It’s not unusual to want better skin. We all do! With a never-ending list of tonics, toners and tea tree – how can you even figure out where to start? I know what you are thinking, there is no way that I only need one product – and you are right. But you can do one routine. But with so many options, it can get overwhelming and daunting. Here’s what you need to know about getting back to the basics with one simple routine.

The following routine is what you can you can use for both morning and night (with some minor tweaks). Win! Here’s what you need and the order you need to apply it: makeup remover, cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. The changes? Simple. As far as products go, you can use any brands that you prefer. I think one of the things we learned from our moms and that all pieces should come from the same line. Now, I’m not knocking loyalty (hey, longtime Simply Sabrina readers!) but with an abundance of brands out there, you should find ones that play to the strengths of your skin’s challenges. For example, you may want to use a medical cosmetic company if you are adding things like retinol to your skin. When it comes to cleansing, the Alba Botanica Acnedote™ Face & Body Scrub has 2% salicylic acid which helps treat your skin’s acne-causing bacteria when you wash your face. All Alba Botanica products use plant-based ingredients and Theo and I love that they are vegetarian and cruelty-free!

It’s optional to add in a mask, peel or spot treatment to the mix. I have been using the Alba Botanica’s Acnedote™ skincare regimen complete with the Acnedote™ Pimple Patches and Acnedote™ Clearing Gel Peel. I think on a busy weekend of back to back full glam and liquid foundation (as opposed to the mineral one I usually wear) my skin is pretty upset with me and wants time to heal. Those are the days I grab something a little extra like the gel peel. So far, it’s worked wonderfully and I can see a difference on my face.
To create a customized skincare plan, I would recommend working with a dermatologist since everyone faces different challenges with their skin. In the meantime, you can never go wrong with this routine: makeup remover, cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Focus on keeping your skin clean and hydrated because that is the foundation of healthy skin.
