I love writing posts that I love to read, and one of the things that have been top of mind right now for me is skincare. As a young-ish woman, I know how important skincare is, especially as a preventative tool – but this post is less about products and more about proficiency.
There are things that you know that you need to do to take care of your skin and for whatever reason, we always put ourselves on the back burner. In the same way, you take care of your responsibilities at work, school, or for your family & friends – you need to have non-negotiables for yourself.
Let’s start with the simple stuff, do these 4 easy things to have better skin immediately.
Drink more water
I mentioned this in my post to get ready for summer & what Theo has taught me, but drinking water is so important. I am the worst at this, so I am proactively trying to change myself.
I downloaded this app called Plant Nanny and it is a game changer. It literally gamify drinking water. You have this animated plant that you have to “water” by tracking your own water intake. If you neglect your responsibilities, you will plant will suffer – it like actually withers and dies.
Super morbid. Drink water, and keep your plant alive.
Wash Your Damn Face
No matter what, I don’t care how late it is or what you did that night – wash your face. Just do it. Get a little makeup-removing pad and some Garnier micellar water (or just a makeup wipe if you are super lazy) and wipe the dirt off your face.
But wait, don’t stop there, actually get up and splash water and soap on your face. Yes, I know it sucks. Yes, I know you are so sleepy, and splashing cold water in your face is going to make you wide awake, and do I even know what a big presentation you have at school, work, [insert area of responsibility]?!? Forget it! You need to sleep!
No. Wash your damn face.

Clean your makeup brushes
I’m pretty sure the rule is once a week or something crazy like that – but at least once a month take some time out and clean your makeup brushes. When you think of how much dirt & oil is on your face every night when you go to bed, it’s so gross.
Can you even imagine what it’s like to transfer products day after day with the same tools? The bacteria alone should make you squirm.
If you need some tips on how to quickly clean your makeup brushes, I share some here. I did the research for you so you don’t need to spend 15 minutes looking up how to clean brushes on YouTube. You are so welcome!

Apply moisturizer
There are so many great products out there, so find a moisturizer that works for your skin and stick to it.
At night, use one that is heavy and can seep into your skin while you sleep, and for the daytime make sure you use one with SPF. I’m a big fan of Youth To The People and use a lot of their products.
For daytime, I’ll mix some of the YTTP Superfood Moisture Cream into my primer, and for nighttime, I have been using the Peach & Lily Cream – and I am obsessed with it. I apply it all over my face & neck and even take a swipe to force-apply to Sahir.
